This classic jukebox lets users efficiently rip, mix, burn, organize, and play music. Musicmatch's On Demand service provides streaming-only access to 800,000 tracks for $8 per month. Its Music Store service lets you browse, preview, and buy music tracks in a fashion similar to iTunes. The fairly liberal terms allow you to play purchased tracks on up to three computers and transfer them onto portable players. You can burn songs to CD, though you only can burn a single playlist that includes purchased songs 10 times.
Music Store performs tasks such as adding files, transferring music to portable devices, and burning CDs with one click. As with the rest of the program's interface, Music Store collapses or expands easily, although some tasks spawn new windows.
Advanced features such as CD labeling, slide-show creation, and faster burning and ripping are available only in Musicmatch Plus. The combination of feature trials and upgrade promotions can become bombastic. In addition, Internet radio is limited to selections from the Musicmatch MX library (yet another free trial). Despite the hard sell of premium services, Musicmatch Jukebox remains a solid all-in-one player.
